This is one of the three most available New Orleans eagles in higher grades along with the more common 1903-O and 1904-O. It becomes hard to locate in properly graded MS63 and it is rare above this.
This fresh example is better than most seen in MS63 holders and it exhibits undisturbed original surfaces below thick natural orange-gold color.
No PCGS MS62+ 1901-O eagle has ever sold at auction.
A nice type example or perfect for a date run of 1888-O to 1906-O eagles.
CAC has approved 8 in MS62 (it isn't known how many are 62+ coins) with 16 finer.
