NICE AU50 1848-O EAGLE

Variety 2.

The 1848-O is an unusual issue in the New Orleans No Motto series as its overall availability is not reflective of its rarity in higher grades. Nice AU 1848-O eagles are not often seen as this date tends to come well-worn or in comparatively high grades.

This natural light green-gold example is an AU55 which has been net graded to an AU50 solely due to an old, well-hidden scrape on the obverse below star seven and close to the hair.

Only one PCGS AU50 has sold since 2013 and it realized $3,525 as Heritage 9/15: 5140.

A pleasing, affordable 1848-O eagle which still represents well above-average quality for the issue.
