AFFORDABLE 1807 BUST RIGHT HALF EAGLE

BD-4, High R-4. Large Reverse Stars.

1807 is a transitional year for half eagles as both the old Bust Right and the new Bust Left issues were made. The 1807 Bust Right half eagle is a relatively available date within this series and it is always in demand in lower grades due to the relatively high price of choice AU and Mint State examples.

This piece has a pleasing appearance and, unlike most Bust Right half eagles graded EF40 or EF45 by PCGS, this isn't a problem coin which has been "net graded." The surfaces show no significant marks and the strike is typical for this issue with some weakness at the centers.

The only PCGS EF40 1807 BR half eagle to sell at auction since 2012 realized $6,463 and it had some readily visible scratches on the obverse.

This is good value for the budget-conscious collector.
