NICE AU 1807 BUST RIGHT HALF EAGLE

BD-1, R-4. Small Reverse Stars; not designated by PCGS.

The 1807 Bust Right half eagle is numismatically significant as the final year of issue for this design type and it is a transitional issue as 1807 also saw the introduction of the Bust Left type.

This well struck, lustrous example might have graded AU55 were it not for some shallow abrasions in the obverse fields. It shows excellent detail and has plenty of "meat" as the accompanying images would suggest.

The last PCGS AU50 example of this date/variety sold for a low $7,050 as Heritage 1/16: 6443 but this was due to heavy scratches on the obverse. A nicer PCGS AU50 sold for $8,813 as Heritage 2/14: 4112 and an NGC AU50 more recently realized $8,225 as Heritage 9/16: 14040.

A comparatively affordable type example and always in demand.
