PCGS MS61 1897-O EAGLE
The 1897-O is the second scarcest post-1883 New Orleans eagle after the 1899-O. It is not often seen above the MS61 to MS62 and even when available, it tends to be dipped and very heavily abraded.
This piece is leasing for the date and grade with minimally marked surfaces which are frosty and which show pleasing natural russet-gold hues.
The last PCGS MS61 to sell at auction brought $1,410 as Stacks Bowers 9/13: 3462.
