VERY SCARCE PCGS/CAC MS62+ 1892-O EAGLE
The 1892-O eagle is common in MS60 to MS61 and only marginally scarce in MS62 but it is truly scarce in MS63 and unknown finer. It appears that most of the higher grade 1892-O eagles have been repatriated from overseas and are very "choppy" as a result of being shipped loose in bags.
This frosty example is uncommonly choice for the date with thick, creamy luster beneath lovely rich natural orange-gold color. There are a few ticks seen in the obverse fields and a small mint-made grease stain on the eagle's right wing but this coin has better overall eye appeal than pieces I have seen in MS63 holders.
The only PCGS/CAC MS62+ 1892-O eagle to sell at auction realized $2,990 as Heritage 1/12: 6565.
If you can find a PCGS graded MS63 1892-O eagle you'll have to pay at least $8,000+ and this feels like an overbuy to me.
CAC has approved 28 in MS62 (including two in MS62+) with none finer.
