CAC APPROVED UNCIRCULATED 1893-O HALF EAGLE
The 1893-O is the most common of the three No Motto half eagles from this mint. It is easy to locate in AU and the lowest Uncirculated grades while becoming hard to find in MS63 and above. Most MS61 to MS62 piece are densely abraded and unappealing as a result.
This frosty light yellow-gold and rose example shows good overall detail and would almost certainly have graded MS62 were it not for a noticeable scrape in the right obverse field.
No CAC approved MS61 1893-O half eagle has ever appeared at auction. The last two PCGS MS61 non-CAC pieces sold for $1,293 each.
CAC has approved three in this grade with nine finer.
