Coin Description

AFFORDABLE UNCIRCULATED 1855 TYPE TWO DOLLAR WITH CAC APPROVAL

Type Two.

The 1855 is the second of only two Philadelphia gold dollars using the short-lived Type Two Indian Head design. It is sometimes available in the lower Uncirculated grades but it becomes scarce and costly in MS63 to MS64 and above.

This is a choice, high-end coin for the grade with good luster and nice light green-gold and rose color. It is struck from lightly clashed dies and there are clashmarks seen on both sides but not enough to cause a visual distraction.

The last PCGS/CAC approved MS62 1855 gold dollar to sell at auction  was Stacks Bowers 2014 ANA: 4302 and it realized $3,819.

A nice, affordable Type Two gold dollar, perfect for the budget-conscious but savvy type collector

CAC has approved 39 in MS62 with 93 finer.

From the Vasquez Rocks collection, sold by DWN in late 2012.
