The 1844-O is, by a considerable margin, the most available No Motto half eagle from this mint. It is seen with some degree of regularity in the upper range of the AU grade but many pieces in AU55 and AU58 holders are bright from a recent dipping.

This fresh to the market example shows deep natural green-gold color. It has virtually no wear and the skin of an AU58 but it is a touch scuffy and has been downgraded to the current 55 grade as a result. This is a later die state coin with weakness on the third through eighth stars due to die lapping; the cracks seen on the reverse of later die states have not yet formed. The color is original and there is much luster seen on the surfaces.

Only one PCGS AU55 has sold at auction since the Summer of 2012 and no CAC approved 55′s from either service have crossed the block in a number of years.
