The 1841-D is among the more available early dates in the Dahlonega half eagle series but it is not easy to locate with natural color and choice surfaces.
This attractive green-gold example is clean and wholesome and it appears to have enough “meat” that it resembles an AU50. It is well detailed and free of unsightly marks; some dirt can be seen in the lettering on the reverse.
In 2012, Heritage sold two different PCGS EF45 examples of this date, both without CAC approval, for $2,645.
A great coin for the date collector who searches for choice, original EF40 to AU50 Dahlonega half eagles.
CAC has approved just this one coin in EF45 with four finer.
