Along with the 1869 and the 1871, the 1870 is an underrated Three Dollar gold piece which is not often seen in AU58 and which is rare in Uncirculated.
This untoned, frosty slider has light wear on the face of Liberty and a few luster breaks in the obverse fields. It is well struck and free of the significant marks which plague this issue.
The last PCGS AU58 example to sell at auction was Stacks Bowers 7/13: 5129 which sold for $3,173.
