COLLECTOR GRADE 1853-D HALF EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL

The 1853-D is one of the two most available half eagles from this mint, which makes it popular with type collectors. It is common in VF grades but not that many which exist in this range which are nice enough to earn approval from CAC.

This piece seems more like an EF than a Choice VF and it is clean and well detailed with natural russet color. The obverse is very clean save for a nick on the chin of Liberty while the reverse is lightly abraded.

Four PCGS VF30 1853-D half eagles have sold at auction since 2006 with prices ranging from a low of $1,826 to a high of $1,955.

CAC has approved this one coin in VF30 with 17 finer.
