AFFORDABLE UNCIRCULATED 1890-CC HALF EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL

The 1890-CC is a common issue, as are all four of the 1890′s Carson City half eagles but it is far scarcer in all grades than the generic 1891-CC. It is seen with some regularity in MS60 to MS62 but few pieces in this range have natural color and choice surfaces.

This fresh-to-the-market example appears to be wholly original with nice dark russet color contrasted by orange-gold splashes and some dirt on the highlights. The overall appearance is excellent for the date and grade and there is no rub or friction noted.

No CAC PCGS MS61′s have sold at auction in recent years. The last two PCGS MS61′s realized $2,233 in April 2014 and $2,350 in March 2013.

This nice 1890-CC would make a good Carson City type coin for the sophisticated collector who doesn’t want to employ an 1891-CC to fill this slot in his set.

CAC has approved nine in this grade with 35 finer.
