AFFORDABLE SCARCE DATE 1849-O EAGLE
This date is the second scarcest No Motto New Orleans eagle from the 1840′s (after the rare 1841-O) and it is not often seen in affordable collector grades.
This example is extensively but evenly worn with attractive deep russet color atop lightly marked surfaces.
No PCGS VF25′s have sold at auction and only one VF30 has crossed the block in well over a decade. Most of the VF 1849-O eagles which I have seen are damaged or cleaned to the point that they are unable to straight grade.
Here is a coin which represents a lot of bang for the buck at under $2,000.
