The 1844-O eagle is comparable in rarity to the 1843-O and it is a bit more available than the 1845-O. When available in the lower AU grades, it tends to be bright and baggy.
This nice medium green-gold example shows rich natural color on the obverse and the reverse. Some old marks can be seen in the fields and on the cheek of Liberty but these are less extensive than normal for the date.
Between 2011 and the present, a total of eight different NGC and PCGS examples of the 1844-O eagle were auctioned in AU53. These brought from a low of $1,645 (for a low-end NGC coin) to a high of $2,585 (for a CAC approved PCGS piece).
