This early date Philadelphia mint Liberty Head eagle is not a really scarce date but it is seen less often in problem-free circulated grades than one might expect. It is especially hard to find with original color and surfaces.
This is a choice, high end example for the grade with attractive russet color that changes to a fiery orange-gold in the protected areas. The strike is sharp for the issue and there are just a few small marks noted on the obverse.
Heritage 2/12: 4860, an NGC EF45 example with CAC approval, sold for $1,380.
To my way of thinking, early date Liberty Head eagles like this seem very undervalued.
CAC has approved four in this grade with none finer.
