This date is numismatically significant as the first Liberty Head quarter eagle from this mint. It is only moderately scarce in EF grades but I doubt if even 10% of the examples in 40 or 45 holders are as choice and original as the current piece.
This example is well struck with superb deep natural reddish-gold colors on the obverse and the reverse. The surfaces are wonderfully clean for the grade.
Only three EF45′s, none with CAC approval, have sold at auction since September 2011.
CAC has approved two in this grade with nine finer.
