The 1837 is the second scarcest Philadelphia quarter eagle after the 1839. It is hard to find in grades above AU53 to AU55 and even harder to locate with original surfaces and color.

This very attractive coin has deep coppery hues on the obverse and reverse. It has a typical weak strike in the centers but it has extremely good overall eye appeal.

Only two AU53′s sold at auction in 2013. A PCGS example brought $1,528 while an NGC/CAC sold for $1,645.
