The Carson City eagles from this decade are the only issues from this mint/denomination combination which are available in Uncirculated. The 1890-CC is scarce in properly graded MS62, rare in MS63 and almost unavailable in grades above this range.
This choice, high end example shows fewer marks than usual for the date and grade. It is totally original with rich orange-gold hues and underlying subtle lime-gold flashes. The luster is frosty and very pleasing while the overall eye appeal is far above average.
No MS62 1890=CC eagles with CAC approval have sold at auction in recent memory. Heritage 3/14: 30397 sold for a strong $11,750; it was an NGC MS62 without CAC approval.
If you need a type example of an eagle from the Carson City mint, this is a much more interesting choice than a “generic” 1891-CC.
CAC has approved 10 in this grade with two finer.
