CHOICE AU 1882-CC HALF EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL
The 1882-CC is the most available CC half eagle struck during the 1880's. However, it is much harder to locate than the four issues made in the following decade.
This sharply struck, russet-toned examples shows deepening of the coloration at the borders. The surfaces are very clean and the wear is far less than one might from a coin which grades AU53.
The last PCGS AU53 1882-CC half eagle to sell at auction realized $2,016 as Heritage 7/14: 4611. A PCGS AU53 with CAC approval sold for $2,645 as Goldberg 2/12: 1586.
CAC has approved 10 in this grade with 30 finer.
