Description
It had been years since I’d handled an affordable 1870-CC half eagle. Then I bought a pleasing Good 6 example graded by NGC a few weeks ago. That coin created a ton of interest on my site and many unhappy collectors were informed that it was no longer available. If you were on of The Disappointed, here is a second chance.
This piece shows more wear than the NGC Good 6 I offered and it is not as original. It clearly has been cleaned at one time and shows some handling marks as well. Whereas the other coin was, in my opinion, a pocket piece, this example seems to have seen lots and lots of circulation. The obverse is a full Good with mostly visible rims and clearing lettering on LIBERTY; the reverse is more like an Almost Good with wear into the lettering.
