The 1858-C is among the more available Charlotte half eagles, making it a good selection for the collector looking for an affordable type coin. Most coins in EF holders are bright from having been processed and pieces with natural color and choice surfaces are not easy to locate.
This is a textbook EF40 coin with good detail and medium russet color which deepens at the borders. There is a significant amount of dirt in the protected areas, indicating that this piece has better than average originality.
