1807 is an interesting transitional year for half eagles as both the old Bust Right and the new Bust Left types were made. The 1807 Bust Right is available less often than other common dates in this series and it is very hard to locate with choice surfaces and natural coloration.
This lovely slider shows rich natural russet color with the reverse a bit darker in hue than the obverse. Both sides show only light rub on the high spots and have nice clean fields with minimal circulation marks. A few faint adjustment marks on the upper reverse are hard to see without magnification. The eye appeal is excellent.
The last two AU58 1807 Bust Right half eagles to sell at auction both brought $12,338 and neither was approved by CAC.
This is about as nice a coin for the grade as one might expect to find and in my opinion, it is worth the small premium I am asking over a typical bright, processed example.
CAC has approved 11 in this grade with 17 finer.
