The 1892-O is by far the rarest of the three With Motto half eagles struck at the New Orleans mint. It is among the rarer New Orleans half eagles in terms of overall rarity; unlike the No Motto issues it is seen more often in AU and the lower Uncirculated grades than in VF or EF.
This choice, original slider shows no real wear but has just a hint of friction on the high spots. The surfaces show scattered shallow marks from being transported loose in a bag but these are less obtrusive than normal for this date. The color is a pleasing light yellow gold and there is a natural copper spot above star eight and a few smaller ones across the reverse.
A non-CAC example graded AU58 by PCGS sold for $3,290 as Heritage 7/14: 4621.
This is the best available quality for this date at under $4,000 and I believe that it is still an undervalued issue.
CAC has approved two in this grade with three finer.
