POPULAR 1893-CC HALF EAGLE, PCGS/CAC MS62

The 1893-CC is a numismatically significant issue as the final half eagle from the Carson City mint. It is only moderately scarce in MS60 to MS61 but properly graded MS62's are scarce and this date is rare in MS63 and above.

This fresh-to-the-market example is well detailed and very lustrous with attractive natural coloration. There are some light marks consistent with the assigned grade but the fields are cleaner than normal, giving this piece excellent overall eye appeal.

The last PCGS MS62 to sell at auction brought $4,406 as Heritage 2014 ANA: 3951 and it wasn't CAC approved. An NGC/CAC MS62 sold for $4,406 as Heritage 4/14: 6515.

If available, a nice PCGS MS63 1893-CC half eagle would likely bring at least $7,500; an amount which would represent an overbuy for many CC half eagle collectors.

CAC has approved 10 in this grade with four finer.
