PCGS/CAC MS64 1914-D QUARTER EAGLE

Only three Indian Head quarter eagles were made at the Denver mint and the 1914-D is the second scarcest of these. It is not often seen in grades above MS64 and many of the pieces I see in 64 holders are not at all choice.

This borderline Gem is frosty, very clean and it show even natural light to medium orange-gold color which is “right” for the issue. A few light scrapes from star five to the bridge of the nose are really all that keep this piece from a 65 grade.

No PCGS MS64 example with CAC approval has sold at auction in at least two years.

A total of 119 have been approved by CAC in MS64 but only four have been approved in grades higher than this (!)
