AFFORDABLE, LOW GRADE 1873-CC HALF EAGLE

The 1873-CC is the second most difficult Carson City half eagle to locate, after the popular first-year 1870-CC. Under 100 1873-CC half eagles exist and many are very well worn. This date is desirable in any grade and very expensive even in Extremely Fine.

This well-worn example is clean and remarkably free of problems. It shows nice even russet color and all of the details on both sides are legible. Here is a coin with many interesting stories to tell!

Heritage 10/16: 4536, also graded VG10 by PCGS but not approved by CAC, sold for $3,995 and it showed scratches on the obverse.

This is the best available quality for this rare date at a very affordable price point and it would make a great addition to a lower grade CC half eagle set.

CAC has approved this one coin in this grade with four finer. Only five have been approved for the date.

Ex Heritage 1/11: 6925 where it sold for $3,738.
