Only three issues of With Motto half eagle are known from the New Orleans mint of which the 1893-O is the most available. It is scarce in properly graded MS62 and rare in grades higher than this.
This is a very choice, frosty example with rich natural green-gold and light orange hues seen over choice surfaces. Most 1893-O half eagles are very scuffy and this piece is far cleaner than normal.
The only PCGS MS62 to sell at auction since May 2013 was a non-CAC piece which brought $2,585 as Stacks Bowers 6/16: 10326. A non-CAC NGC MS62 sold for $2,497 as Heritage 12/15: 4614.
For most high quality collections of New Orleans half eagles, this choice 1893-O will be a perfect fit.
