The 1853-C is scarcer than the common 1852-C but not as scarce as the underrated 1854-C. It is not often seen with original color and sometimes has a weakly impressed mintmark.
This well-detailed example exhibits deep, natural green-gold color over unmarked surfaces. I don't know why this coin isn't graded a full AU55 as it is lustrous and it shows relatively light wear.
Two NGC AU53 1853-C half eagles were auctioned in 2016 and they brought $2,585 and $2,820, respectively.
This piece is suitable either for a nice quality date set of Charlotte half eagles or for a type representative of this issue.
