Variety 32-V.
The 1852-D is among the more common Dahlonega half eagles which makes it ideal for type purposes. It is scarcer than generally acknowledged in properly graded AU53 and higher
This piece shows a typical strike but it is choice with good luster and medium yellow-gold color. There are a few light marks in the right obverse field but this piece is less abraded than normal for the grade.
The last two PCGS AU53 1852-D half eagles sold at auction realized $3,290 (non-CAC) and $3,600 (with CAC approval).
A perfect type coin for the casual Dahlonega collector.
CAC has approved 10 in this grade with 8 finer.
