SUPERBLY TONED PCGS/CAC 1807 BUST RIGHT HALF EAGLE

BD-6, R-4. Large reverse stars; not designated by PCGS.

The 1807 half eagles come with two distinct designs: the familiar old Bust Right and the newly-adopted Bust Left. The 1807 Bust Right is available in circulated grades (I’ve handled dozens) but few examples in the higher AU grades are worthy of CAC approval.

The thing that makes this a special coin is its color. The obverse is a rich yellow gold with a band of deeper orange at the border; the reverse is drenched with fiery reddish-gold hues which are just spectacular. Both sides show light wear only and are lustrous with good “meat” for the grade.

A PCGS AU55 example without a CAC sticker sold for $10,575 as Heritage 10/15: 3512. A nice NGC AU55 with CAC approval realized $11,163 as Heritage 1/14: 6599.

This is one of the prettiest circulated Bust Right half eagles which I have offered for sale in some time and it would fit nicely into a connoisseur’s early gold collection.

CAC has approved 9 in this grade with 34 higher.
