AFFORDABLE 1855-O GOLD DOLLAR
This is a one-year type as it is the only Type Two gold dollar made at the New Orleans mint. It is much more available than its Southern counterparts from Charlotte and Dahlonega and it can be obtained in reasonably high grades but a collector of average means.
This even russet-gold example has nice surfaces and very good eye appeal for the grade.
Four PCGS AU50 1855-O gold dollars have sold at auction since July 2015 and the prices realized have ranged from a low of $1,763 to a high of $2,820.
Excellent value at less than $2,000.
