CAC APPROVED PCGS EF45 1851-O DOUBLE EAGLE

The 1851-O is one of the two most available Double Eagles from New Orleans, making it a popular issue for type collectors. It is common in EF grades but only a small percentage of these coins are nice enough to receive CAC approval.

This fresh-to-the-market example is notable for its sharp strike, extremely clean surfaces and pleasing natural toning which features rich magenta hues towards the borders. From the appearance of this coin, it appears to have either been stored in an old album or kept as some sort of pocket piece.

The only PCGS EF45 1851-O double eagle with CAC approval to sell at auction in the last few years was Stacks Bowers 2016 ANA: 2421 which brought a strong $7,050.

This is the best quality available for less than $6,000 and it should see considerable interest from collectros searching for a single Type One double eagle from the New Orleans mint.

CAC has approved 20 in this grade with 47 finer.
