Variety 14-H.
The 1845-D is among the more available half eagles from the Dahlonega mint. It is well-suited for type purposes and it tends to come better struck than the common 1852-1854 issues from this facility.
This well-detailed medium orange-gold example has relatively clean surfaces with just a few scattered, shallow ticks seen in the fields. The reverse is quite lustrous and shows some reddish hues within the lettering.
The most recent PCGS AU53 1845-D half eagle to sell at auction brought $3,408 as Heritage 7/14: 4575.
