CAC APPROVED 1842-O QUARTER EAGLE

This is the third scarcest quarter eagle from the New Orleans mint after the 1845-O and the 1843-O Large Date. The 1842-O is an especially difficult issue to locate with natural color.

This choice deep russet example shows a typical weak strike with a lack of high point detail at the centers. Around 50% of the known 1842-O quarter eagles are struck similarly; many are even weaker at the centers.

A pleasing, wholesome example and excellent value at this level.

CAC has approved two in this grade with 16 finer.
