Only 3,500 business strikes were made and this issue was one of the final years of this denomination that actually saw some degree of circulation. It is scarce in properly graded AU58 and very scarce in Uncirculated with most of the 50 or so known in Mint State falling into the 60 to 62 range.
As is typical for the issue, the surfaces are semi-prooflike and vibrant; as is atypical for the issue, this piece has not been mishandled or processed and it shows excellent overall eye appeal.
A non-CAC PCGS AU58 realized $2,820 as Heritage 6/15: 5246.
I have noticed some life of late in this series and this is at least partly responsible due to the recent offering in the Pogue III sale.
CAC has approved 16 in this grade with five finer.
