SCARCE PCGS AU55 1856-C HALF EAGLE
Amongst the various Charlotte half eagles from the 1850s, only the 1854-C is scarcer than the 1856-C. In AU55, this is a really difficult issue to acquire.
This piece is a bit bight but it has a ton of original mint frost seen on both sides. As is the case with the majority of 1856-C half eagles, the surfaces are a bit of the scuffy side.
The difficulty of locating this date in AU55 is made clear by the fact that since the start of 2018, only a single PCGS AU55 has been sold at public auction.
