GEM SLIDER 1854-O LARGE DATE $10 WITH CAC APPROVAL

Variety 3.

The Large Date is the more available of the two varieties of 1854-O eagles. It is fairly common in grades through AU55, but it is very scarce in properly graded AU58, and very rare in Uncirculated with fewer than ten currently known. Most of the pieces graded AU58 are not choice.

This coin has the exact appearance that you wish every piece graded AU58 had. It is 100% original with nice natural orange-gold color, very minimal wear, and extremely choice surfaces. The strike is sharp and there is no real wear, just some minor stacking friction on the obverse high spots.

The last PCGS AU58 example of this variety to sell at auction crossed the block all the way back in May 2005. No CAC approved AU58 from either service has ever sold at auction.

If available, an Uncirculated 1854-O Large Date would cost in excess of $15,000 and it would likely not be much nicer than this very high-end AU58!

CAC has approved eight in the grade (inflated!!) with two finer (both MS61).
