The 1890-CC is one of the more available CC double eagles from this decade along with the 1892-CC. It is available in AU58 but many of the pieces I see in this grade have poor eye appeal.
While not designated as such by NGC, this piece is quite reflective with nearly full Prooflike mirrors seen on both sides. This reflectiveness makes the few minor scuffs in the fields look a bit more extensive than they really are. The strike is sharp, the color is a pleasing medium greenish-gold and the eye appeal is far above average for the grade.
The highest APR recorded in 2013 for this date in AU58 is $5,288 for a PCGS coin without CAC approval.
A nice coin for the date or type collector.
