The 1875-CC is the most available Type Two double eagle from this mint which makes it an ideal issue for the type collector. It is certainly not rare in properly graded AU58 but CAC-quality examples are becoming hard to locate and are in demand.
This lustrous slider shows nice medium green-gold color and is notable for remarkably clean surfaces. It shows no real wear but does have some minor “cabinet friction” on the high spots which keep it from grading MS61.
The last two APR’s for AU58 examples of this date are $4,994 and $5,175, respectively, but these were for non-CAC coins which were less choice for the grade than the present piece.
