This attractive Civil War Type One double eagle shows nice deep orange-gold color with contrasting highlights. A small scrape before the nose of Liberty is the only significant mark. The 1862-S is a scarce issue in this grade with a pronounced bump in price as you go further up the AU scale. It is also a date that is seldom seen with natural color.
