The 1836 is a common date in the Classic Head half eagle series. It is not hard to locate in AU58 but probably less than 20% of the coins graded as such by PCGS/NGC are CAC quality pieces with nice color and good luster.
This very choice slider has the naked-eye appearance of an MS61 to MS62 coin. It is bright and frosty with attractive natural light yellow-gold color. The surfaces show no marks of note and there is just the slightest amount of friction seen on the high spots.
No CAC approved AU58 examples of this date have sold in recent memory.
CAC has approved 17 in this grade with eight finer.
