A total of 5,000 business strike three dollar gold pieces were made and this date is more available than the 1864 and 1865 but around equal in rarity to the 1861 and 1862.
Showing only light wear, this piece has medium natural green-gold and russet colors on the moderately abraded obverse and reverse. There are some moderate scuffs in the fields and a small rim bump at 12:00 on the reverse.

A pleasing example of this popular Civil War issue.
