Variety 2. Low Date. The scarcer of the two varieties of the year.
The 1852-C is one of the two most available Charlotte half eagles, along with the 1858-C. It is often seen well-made and it is popular with type collectors because of this.
This is a handsome, original example with deep yellow-gold color with contrasting reddish hues at the inner obverse. The surfaces are choice except for a mark in the right obverse field and the detail is sharp for the grade.
The level of demand for nice EF common date Charlotte and Dahlonega half eagles has increased considerably in the last year and only a small percentage of these coins are nice enough to be approved by CAC.
CAC has approved just this one coin in EF45 with 15 finer than this.
