The 1892-O is, by far, the rarest of the three With Motto half eagles produced at the New Orleans mint. It is numismatically significant as the first-year-of-issue for this type (which was resumed after a thirty five year hiatus) and it is one of the rarest half eagles from this mint in terms of overall availability. In grades higher than MS62 it is almost impossible to find.
The last two MS62 examples of this date to sell at auction were both graded by NGC and they brought $7,050 (as Heritage 1/14: 6765) and $8,225 (as Heritage 12/13: 3852).
PCGS has graded just two finer than this and both of these are off the market in tightly-held collections.
