The 1841 eagle is a fairly available coin in VF and EF grades but it becomes scarcer in the medium AU range and it is rare in properly graded AU58. It is almost never seen with natural color and choice surfaces.

This frosty slider has the appearance of an MS61 to MS62. It is well detailed and has nice natural medium green-gold and orange hues. There is no real wear, just some light bag friction on the high spots of the obverse and minimal luster breaks in the fields.

With the exception of this specific coin, no other 1841 eagle in PCGS AU58 has sold at auction since Heritage 7/09: 2580, which realized $4,600.

This coin was nice enough to have resided in two of the finest Liberty Head eagle collections ever formed (David Hall and Bob Simpson) and with only four or five known in Uncirculated, it is not far removed from the Condition Census level.
