The 1846-O is numismatically significant as the very first silver dollar to have been struck at the New Orleans mint.
This attractive gunmetal grey example shows good detail and has a neat “circulated cameo” appearance on the obverse; the reverse has slightly deeper overall color.
Average quality examples of this date tend to bring $1,150 to $1,300 on a wholesale level; this high end CAC-approved example is worth a premium, in my opinion.
CAC has approved seven in this grade with 17 finer.
