There are not many non-silver dollars from the Carson City mint which can be obtained in Gem Uncirculated and the 1877-CC dime is one of these. It is reasonably scarce in MS66 and, of course, very rare in MS67 and above.
This gem example shows rich rose-grey centers with splashes of multi-colored iridescence at the obverse border. The strike is razor sharp with a full head and sharp leaves in the wreath while the frosty surfaces show only a few minor marks below magnification. This is a fully original Gem with great eye appeal.
The last PCGS MS66 with CAC approval to sell at auction was ex Heritage 8/13: 3511 at a strong $5,875. A dipped white PCGS MS66 without CAC approval just sold for $3,760 as Heritage 2/14: 3444.
Here is a rare opportunity to own a truly superb Carson City dime for less than $5,000.
CAC has approved 11 in this grade with none finer.
