JR-2, R-3. Large Date variety.
The 1828 Large Date is a scarce and underrated variety which is not often seen above VF grades, especially with natural color and choice surfaces.
This very pleasing example has a deep golden-grey obverse with some iridescence in the fields; the reverse is a lighter, more even dove grey. The surfaces are choice and clean and the overall eye appeal is excellent for the date and grade.
The 1828 Large Date is an issue which is missing in many early dime collectors sets.
CAC has approved just this one example in EF40 with five finer.
