The 1849-C is the eighth rarest of 20 quarter eagles from this mint. It is seen most often in VF and EF grades and it is very hard to find in collector grades with original color and surfaces.

This is a perfect Choice EF example with attractive deep green-gold color and some dirt in the protected areas. It has never been cleaned and it is literally perfect for the grade except for a small old dig on the reverse below the second S in STATES.

Only three slabbed EF45 examples have sold at auction since the Summer of 2003. The last APR is for a PCGS coin, ex Goldberg 2/12: 1191, which brought $2,415.

This seems like great value considering that a common date like an 1847-C will cost you around $2,000-2,250 in this grade.
